A while ago I heard a saying like;
Yesterday is a history
Future is a mystery
Today is a gift that's why it called present...
Every teaching has its fundamentals. Reiki has too. Dr Mikao Usui called them as Reiki Principles. These principles mainly thought to Reiki students for anyone to practice Reiki and transfer healing energy to others as they must have first taken responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.
But I would like to extend these principles to everyone who is reading this write up. Once we become more mindful about our daily lives we can understand why these principles can make a big sense.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone so whatever happens now our thinking reflects how we see the life. Yet again Dr Usui's principles makes even more sense that’s why they start as “Just for today”.
I - Just for today, I will not be angry
Anger at others or oneself or at the whole world, creates serious blockages in one's energy. It is the most complex inner enemy. Anger closes us off from love and compassion.
Reiki is an excellent tool to remove anger blockages which have accumulated in the body over years, but it cannot remove the residue of current anger which occurs daily.
Constantly remind yourself that anger is not your real nature and as such it will pass, try to acknowledge it, witness it and then let it go forever. Letting go of anger brings Piece into the Mind.
II - Just for today, I will not worry
While anger deals with past and present events, worry deals with perceived future ones and happenings. Although worry is not always a negative phenomenon, endless worries may fill one's head, and each one bores a small hole in one's body and soul. While anger requires a focused Reiki treatment to remove obstacles, worry requires the energy to be spread throughout the entire body. We should all disregard thoughts of future events and circumstances over which we have no ultimate control.
Letting go of worry, brings healing into the Body.
III - Just for today, I will be grateful
We should all try to be grateful and show appreciation for the many blessings that can fill our lives. Simple things as thanks, forgiveness, smile, good words, gratitude can improve others life and make them happy.
If we live in a state of gratitude, appreciating and giving thanks for the many blessings of life we can help transform negative attitudes and thoughts into positive ones. Being thankful brings Joy into the Spirit.

IV - Just for today, I will do my work honestly
We should all work to the best of our ability each day. Support yourself and your family respectably, without harming others. Earn a respectable living, live a life of honor.
Working Honestly brings Abundance into the Soul.
V- Just for today, I will be kind to others and every living thing
Honor your parents, honor your teachers, honor your elders. It is important that we realise and accept that being kind and friendly to everyone must include ourselves.
Being Kind brings Love into the Will.
Simple technique practicing Reiki principles can be spending 5-20 mins each day -with your hands clasped in prayer position - and repeat these principles aloud. You can even meditate while concentrating only one principle which is most important to you at that time.
By simply repeating the principles every day you will eventually memorize them so well that they pop up in your mind when they are needed. Then - just apply them.
Don't reflect how.
Just apply, and wait what happens...
